Morning Prayers

Now in the sun's new dawning ray, lowly of heart our God we pray, that he from harm may keep us free in all the deeds this day shall see.
That when the light of day is gone, and night in course shall follow on, we, free from cares the world affords, may chant the praise that is our Lord's.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name: thy kingdom come: thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Angel of God, who art my guardian, since by the merciful care of heaven I am entrusted to thy charge, do thou this day enlighten, keep, govern and direct me.

May the Lord almighty order our days and actions in his peace. The Lord bless us, and guard us from all evil, and lead us to life eternal; and may the souls of the faithful, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.  Amen.

Evening Prayers from Pine Arizona

05/29/20

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

O Jesus most sweet, and Father of Jesus most sweet, abide with me, I beseech you, sleep this night with me, that my body may take its rest, yet my heart never sleep, but ever watch with you; that I may with all my heart and soul yearn after you, see you present with me though I be absent, that I may escape all evil. May your angel watch over me, and strengthen me with the sign of the Cross ; may Satan flee far from hence, and Jesus alone remain; and those whom I love do you gather also to yourself, and give them rest on the couch of your heart; forsake not them nor me, but bless and protect us, and guard us for ever. Amen.

Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead, I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of Saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Look down upon us, O Lord, and watch over the sheep of thy flock, lest the robber that cometh by night lay hold of them to snatch them from thee. For thou, O Lord, art He that sleepeth not, nor slumbereth, remaining ever the guardian of our souls; enlighten thou our heart with the brightness of thy truth that thy loving kindness may ever shine in our hearts.

Thou has saved us, O Lord Jesus Christ, while we have kept watch through the day; guard us this night when we are at rest; and though we sleep, let thy Holy Spirit keep guard over us, and protect us this night and at all times. Through thy mercy, O our God, who livest and governess all things to the ages of ages. Amen.

O Virgin Mary, who art after God the single hope of my soul's salvation, grant me to rest this night under the shadow of thy protection; that I may arise at the due time safe and rejoicing with thanksgiving, and serve more fervently thy Son and thee. Amen.

Before You Close Your Eyes

It is said that the thoughts which occupy us at the time we go to sleep sink into our subconscious mind and produce some effect there. As a rule these thoughts are with us in the morning. It is a fact that people live more by their subconscious (we use the word "heart") than by their conscious mind. This short night consecration or prayer will help us not leave to chance what type of thoughts fill our minds before we go to sleep. It is important that the previous day, with all its impressions and experiences, its worries and griefs, and perhaps its discords, should be taken to the heart of God the Father, to the heart of Mary, our Mother. By doing so we will again restore a certain balance in ourselves.
We found the loving offering below in an old Irish Prayer book called Prayers of an Irish Mother. Although written long ago it seems perfect for us today.
                                                         Sleep well friends.

O Loving Jesus, I offer Thee Thy most peaceful repose in the adorable Sacrament of the Altar, and in the hearts of all the just, and I beseech Thee most earnestly that I may rest this night in Thee so that in the morning I may awake with renewed fervour to love and serve Thee.  Amen.

My Queen and my Mother, bless me with thy pure and holy hand―
That I may have a good night's rest,
That I may wake betimes in the morning, and have the grace and energy to rise promptly and continue the work thy divine and beloved Son has entrusted to my feeble hands.
Amen.

The Home Shrine

When we return home from the affairs of the world which is different from us in thought and action, we need a spiritual "burst of power". Where can we find an easier access then in our home shrine? There the Blessed Mother is near us, and it is she who without delay leads us to God's stream of life, according to her own word: "do whatever he tells you" (Jn. 2:5). At that moment we experience in increased measure Christ's life and thinking, his light and action. Pope Paul VI has stated: "Mary is always the way that leads to Christ. What else is the meaning of the perpetual refuge in Mary if not a search in her, through her and with her for Christ the Savior in her arms, to whom men in the worldly mazes and dangers must turn as to a harbor of salvation and a well of life surpassing all comprehension, and without whom they will never be able to manage.

The Home Shrine

Hidden is a cluster of Alligator Junipers near the cabin. A large rock sits in front making this the perfect home shrine.

To pray means: to brave the cold and darkness and go to the Father. To pray means: bowing one's head to let the gentle and strong hand rest on it: 'My child, what is it you want?'
'Father, I just wanted to come to you.'
